The advent of color films and professional makeup was what tipped the practice of wearing makeup from something that only more affluent members of society did on special occasions to something that just about anyone could access.  The glamor of Hollywood actors and actresses in the 1930s and 1940s got everyone interested in looking like a movie star and the first modern cosmetic companies were born. Now most women and even some men wear makeup on a daily basis.   Most often, the makeup done for theatrical purposes is “corrective youth makeup” which is a fancy phrase that means “making everyone look as young and aesthetically attractive as possible.”  Here are a few uThis Hub offers up a variety of tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years for how to apply makeup.

Balanced on Fashion’s Wobbly Pedestal: as the New York Times puts it…and God only knows what Pierre Berge and the French are saying….“In total, Mr. Pilati has been a designer for nearly 30 years, during which time he has had highs and lows, wrestled with drug abuse, and constantly questioned his place in fashion and whether the pressures are worth it.’I have worked and worked and worked hard again… I [...]

Four Unique Beauty Tips that Really Work

posted by on 2011.03.19, under cosmetics, make up tutorials
19:

Have you ever wondered where some of these nifty and unique, and sometimes, to be quite frank, rather odd beauty tips came from? One could spend hours researching them…More often than not, they are beauty tips and tricks that have been passed down from either people who personally guinea-pigged themselves trying them, or by beauty pros that figured out how to apply them. Nevertheless, there is an abundance of them, and not surprisingly, they can really work to aid you in improving your look and feel.

Here are four beauty tips that you can try at home:

1. Combat wrinkles on your face using ice cubes. Sounds really outlandish and ever so chilly, doesn’t it? The trick is taking an ice cube from the freezer and rubbing it slowly on the wrinkles of your face until it melts, each evening. It can help the skin stiffen and reduce the signs of wrinkles.
2. Substituting conditioner for shaving cream…no way! Lots of gals reach for the bar soap when they run out of shaving cream. However, conditioner is a better bet because it softens your hair and skin, making shaving a breeze.
3. Treat your eyelash curler like a curling iron for best results. That’s right, you didn’t read wrong! The easy trick: Apply heat to the curler using your hair dryer for about 10-15 seconds. The heat will greatly ease your curling woes.
4. No more crumbling eyeliner. Before using it, place it in the freezer for about thirty seconds. Say goodbye to it ever crumbling on you again!
