Great Scots! It’s the Edinburgh Festival

For three weeks every August, the population of Edinburgh doubles in size as millions flock to Scotland’s capital for the Edinburgh International Festival. Music, theater, opera, dance and art performances take over the region, naturally attracting a wide range of characters and looks, from the fashionably hip to the unapologetically freaky.

The event’s first week attracted the expected fair share of men in kilts, not to mention drag queens, folks lying on the street, girls in bathtubs and, thankfully, some simple outfits like floral dresses, T-shirts and denim. But for the most part, it was hard to distinguish the flock of zany tourists from costumed actors…see if you can tell the difference.
