There’s something hiding behind the smile something more than meets the eye… Mia Wasikowska, her face free of makeup, is lounging about in the foyer of a French Hotel in Cannes. The 22-year-old wears a black-and-white swallow-print Miu Miu skirt and top, paired with a boxy Austrian-style red felt jacket that swamps her tiny frame.   She has been in the midst of promotional duties for one of her latest cinematic effort: the character of Bertha in “Lawless,” based on the true story of three bootlegging brothers in Prohibition-era Virginia. The John Hillcoat-directed movie costars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Jason Clarke as the Bondurant brothers, who punch, kick and stab their way to ruling the region’s moonshine trade. Byron Bay Chic

Colin Heaney came to Byron Bay via Cali U.S.A. back in 1974, at a time when  cows ruminated by the ocean shores, attracted by one of the best surf spots in the World he soon realized he had found his spiritual homestead.  It was a time when Byron was known to a few surfers most of them Australian, and a few from the States and Europe.  It was the idyllic hippie enclave, as much of a factor in the flower power and the surf for life movement as were places like Big Sur, Ibiza, and a handful of other spots around the globe. In my Mailbox, the digital one that is, one of the most interesting reads aside from Beautydelux of course is the articles I generally find in BoF daily Newsletter.  For the ones that don’t know it stands for business of Fashion.  This one particularly caught my eye for a couple of reasons.  It was written by BoF founder Imran Amed and it showcased the city of the moment, once again…London, and how it has become a front runner in the World technology and fashion theater by merging or rather mashing- up the two fields of endeavor into one logical, revenue making powerhouse of an export.  A jewel in the crown for Ol’ Britannia…. Goodbye Cosmo Girl

I remember Helen Gurley Brown, as the talk show guest with the amusing quip and the lightly sardonic remark that would make veterans like Dick Cavett and  Merv Griffin blush.   The former editor in chief of Cosmopolitan and author of the bestseller “Sex and the Single Girl,” died this morning at the McKeen Pavilion at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia. She was 90 years old.  Continue reading “Goodbye Cosmo Girl” »

I kinda of like Pink, I could not help but follow her career since at the very beginning of it as a start up rocker chick in the nineties she wore some of my clothes just like a few other rock chicks of that decade, Christina, Joan, Meredith…they all some how rallied around my funky creations as it almost became a way of projecting an image of  up and coming stardom either that or they all shared the same stylist.
