Liya Kebede: Face of L’Oreal Paris
Ethiopian model, actress, fashion designer and activist (talking about multi tasking) Liya Kebede has been named the newest face of L’Oreal Paris, following celebs like Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani.
The 33-year-old is no stranger to the spotlight — beyond staring alongside Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie in The Good Shepherd, she made history back in 2000 when she became the first-ever black model to represent a cosmetics company with Estee Lauder and has appeared on numerous editions of Vogue, as well as V, Flair and i-D.

The mother of two was nominated as a Goodwill Ambassador for the World Health Organization in 2005 and established the Liya Kebede foundation that raises money for the Durame Hospital in her native Ethiopia soon thereafter. Kebede has this to say about the brand’s decision: “It is important for me that I represent a brand that reflects my personality. I’m pleased to play a part in sharing the uniqueness, the charisma, and the incredible stories of women of all origins and from all regions of the world.”
